Structural Therapeutics Massage Services
Structural Therapeutics specializes in the following types of massage. We recognize that each client and his or her conditions and goals are unique. Your therapist may use a combination of techniques described below, along with suggesting stretches or exercises to help you reach your goals and enjoy the most pain-free life you can.
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage is the manual manipulation of the body's soft tissue for the purpose of stimulating blood circulation. This promotes healing and helps to reduce stress. Therapeutic massage helps to alleviate pain, stiffness, muscle spasms and inflammation. It also improves the functioning of the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems, and improves the rate at which the body recovers from injury and illness.Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is primarily used for relaxation. Cream or oil may be used with light strokes to soothe and relax the body. Though Swedish massage is generally a full-body massage, you may choose to have work just on areas you feel need more attention.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a problem-specific treatment. With this type of work, your therapist may use forearms, elbows or thumbs to apply pressure. Deep tissue work can be used in conjunction with Swedish massage to loosen the muscles in a specific area, or by itself for a mini-target session.
Trigger Point Massage
Trigger point therapy is a bodywork technique that involves applying pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction. It is often necessary to apply pressure to these points for 20 to 30 seconds to allow the muscle to release its spasm and fully relax. Your therapist may combine trigger point therapy with manual traction or stretches to gain a full release of muscle congestion.
Medical Massage
Medical massage is a manual technique that is used in a rehabilitative therapy environment. It is not a general massage treatment like Swedish; rather, it is a therapy applied to a specific problem area or pathology. We also offer lymphatic gland drainage. This is a gentle type of massage that's done with the goal of purging lymph glands that may be holding toxic substances. Lymphatic drainage can slow or stagnate for a variety of reasons, and massage using this technique helps the body regenerate itself from the inside.
